The age strategy of Iraqi child

Engineer: Ezdihar Mahmoud al-Shather
Director of Woman's Bureau of the CNU

The suffering of Iraqi woman has conduced to negative impacts on the hearts of children who witness bombings and violent acts for a long time especially that these incidents occur in front of children of all ages which impacted negatively on the children's behavior and daily living where children spread in Baghdad streets and Iraqi cities for begging and working in shabby occupations which represent an infringement on their childhood and deprivation of their rights.

According to official statistics and international organizations reports, there are ay around five million orphans in Iraq today most of them live in difficult and complex social conditions; however, reports of the UN and international organizations have affirmed that childhood in Iraq is dying and on its way to death.

Daily facts show clearly that the children of Iraq suffer the fiercest the child in today's world can go thru, so the scenes of daily killings which have affected the children, explosions, scattered bodies, and roar of explosions all are factors that compounded the plight of Iraqi children and no doubt that the factors of the aggravated suffering consequences left over by wars and violence that overshadowed the Iraqi society for a long time have cost woman and child, being the weakest link in society, a high price.

In order to build an age strategy for the Iraqi child the following should be considered:

1.    Instill in the Iraqi child the confidence in itself, skills, and hobbies (drawing, poetry, and story ) no matter how modest they were, prepare the exhibitions for children's drawings, encourage and reward them by the school administration and the same should apply to other talents.
2.    Focus on the mental side of the child via analyzing his drawings, in which he expresses his sentiments, educate and train the teacher to know how to deal with these drawings in order to touch upon his suffering and provide help in his psychic crises.
3.    Engage the Iraqi children abroad in interacting with their own country children thru participating in painting exhibitions and display them on the internet to be seen by their peers abroad to live the experience.
4.    Enumerate the actual deficit in kindergartens, schools, specialized institutes, labs, universities, and libraries and to develop a plan for replacing all that is old with a new and durable one.
5.    Academic institutions must facilitate giving and contribution to enrich social and economic change and bode well with sustainable human development and for all ages of boys and girls.
6.    Prepare strategic programs to empower woman and promote the miserable reality to which children are exposed vis-à-vis the evident privation experienced by "the Iraqi library" in this area in order to rehabilitate scientific research on motherhood and childhood issues, as well as effective contribution to the presumed strategy to look after these two important segments so as to secure their social assurance for their future, and strategic studies should be in accord with scientific research methods in order to establish a database away from improvisation, subjective reflections, and personal impressions.
7.    Refer the practice of self-management in the form of real applied legal formulas to those educational institutions, while emphasizing on intellectual freedom and autonomy in the educational and university framework that would charge those institutions with greater responsibility in educational and academic work and its background implications.
8.    Academic institutions should facilitate continuous giving to contribute in the organization of an advanced society closely related to pursuance of fighting poverty, protection of environment, improvement of public health and feeding, upholding the principles of civil society and keeping to other levels and patterns in education.
9.    Consider the Institution of education as pioneers of development promising effective trends towards labor market which would lead to the emergence of new opportunities for future advancement,  which become necessary to give further attention to major changes going on the market, adopt the curricula and education systems that go with the changing circumstances, based on the principles of credibility in the quality and management of the intended educational institutions to the extent their creative role in society is performed.
10.     Yet, in the social situation, ways should be found to secure bringing about a radical revolution against all outdated customs, traditions and values especially that backward look toward woman, who is the primary school for rearing the child and creating a mindful generation and consequently every thing constructive, civilized and founded on moral values and principles must be promoted via integrating the  and with cultural and social centers, and spreading knowledge in all nearby and far apart towns and villages.
11.    Any legal vision should establish a balanced legal base taking into account to preserve pristine features for example, seeking to develop individual competencies thru the opening of special schools for the gifted student and in all governorates of the country and not restricted to the capital only.
