Statement on the bombing of Wardak village in Nineveh governorate

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Once more dozens of Iraqi innocent people are falling between martyr and wounded in Wardak village, Nineveh governorate, perpetrated by a cowardly terrorist act that did not observe the sanctity of the holy month of fasting, and once again we remind the government and concerned parties, the reminder may be that useful, that preoccupation with upcoming electoral gains should not make us forget that Iraqis' security and lives must be maintained, we also reiterate to say that conflicts between powerful political forces in the political process, but even sometime the concurrence between this party or that, should not be at the expense of compromise in the Iraqis' security and blood.

What has happened in Wardak of crime cannot be interpreted save what is occurring of rhetoric and political statements from here or there in an attempt to inflame struggle and spark the violence in Nineveh governorate for the sake of narrow political gains that will not serve the city and its stability.

We, in the CINU, call on and demand the government to investigate immediately and urgently in the crime of Wardak to unveil and learn about its circumstances and actual culprits to be turned over to justice, because what has happened in this village is not less dangerous, in human terms  and timing, than what happened on the bloody Wednesday in Baghdad; we call also on the lower house to summon security officers to be  held accountable for and learn about the causes behind  security fallbacks that occurred of late in several parts of Iraq.

Slackness in taking hold of the security file would undermine the safety of Iraqi citizen for the benefit of entities and agendas wanted to reshuffle the papers before the parliamentary elections have started, as they are trying to place Iraq once again under the hand mill of sectarianism and ethnicity that brought woes to our country.

Our Iraqi people has become today more aware of the plot size that is being contrived against it, and obscurant forces will not be able, however offensive they are, to hit Iraqi unity or drive the Iraqis again into sectarian and ethnic trenching.

We ask mercy to Iraq's martyrs and rapid recovery to the wounded, God willing
