Development and promotion in the agricultural field

The spokesperson of (the central office for development and promotion) in CINU voiced his support and back up for the program to adopt agricultural strategy that ensures  an active private agricultural sector, and secures grain security in Iraq, and contributes to salvaging the current agricultural status, the strategy which has been emphasized by the advisors of Iraqi central bank, where a proposal was put forth to establish a number of agricultural areas in as much as one million Donum per region that can provide one million tons of grain within each agricultural tract in the framework of modern intensive cultivation undertaken by the private agriculture activity with the help of state to ensure food security for Iraq.

The spokesperson has confirmed that this must be accompanied with activated state development banks in Iraq, and their functions to be switched from generic banks to specialist banks (industrial, agricultural, and real estate) to take upon themselves the tasks of granting soft loans to the private sector.

The CINU secretariat hopes that such constructive proposals are met which would restitute the pulse of life into a main vein of the Iraqi economy veins (private agricultural sector), so that would mitigate, on the medium and long term, an almost total reliance on the fluctuating oil proceeds, which in turn affect the annual budget and thus on the life of Iraqi citizen and infrastructures as well as the projects which target rise and development.
